A couple of weeks ago we visited the McDermott family in Co Galway. They are an expanding dairy herd and family farm. Shane has been the chief calf rearer for the last number of years. Getting up before school and then on his return from school attends calves again. They had lots of challenges in the past and particularly in 2020 with calf scour and diarrheoa.

Patrick White is a dairy farmer based in Co Offaly milking 200 cows in a spring-based system. In 2022 in the middle of a calf scour outbreak his vet recommended he try Precision Microbes to to help with recovery. Tom Murphy, a Kilkenny based dairy farmer, and new entrant has seen the benefits of Precision Microbes calf probiotic and postbiotic liquid.

While seeing it online he used it for gut stabilization during a calf scour outbreak. With good results and a fast speed of recovery, he has now moved to more long-term usage at 30mls daily per calf for 30 days.

We visited Anthony O’Sullivan’s farm just outside Kanturk, Co. Cork, where we hear from both farmer and vet about how calf health and performance have improved with the use of Precision Microbes.
